High wind watch in effect Thursday night through Friday morning

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind watch from 7 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. on Friday for Orleans, Niagara, Genesee, Erie and Chautauqua counties.

There will be southwest winds from 30 to 40 miles per hour with gusts up to 60 mph possible.

“Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines,” the Weather Service said. “Scattered power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.”

The highs in the forecast in party sunny and 39 today, showers and 51 on Thursday, cloudy and 40 on Friday and partly sunny and 32 on Saturday.
