The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a high wind watch from Monday evening through Tuesday morning for Orleans County and most of Western New York.

Southwest winds will be from 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 60 to 65 mph, the Weather Service said.

Strong wind gusts may bring down trees and power lines and result in numerous power outages on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Minor property damage is also possible, especially to roofs and siding. Travel in high-profile vehicles will be very difficult at times, the Weather Service said.
