High wind watch from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning

A high wind watch has been issued from 5 p.m. Saturday through 8 a.m. Sunday with 60-mile-per-hour gusts expected.

The National Weather Service issued the high wind watch for Orleans, Niagara, Monroe, Genesee, Wyoming and northern Erie counties.

The strongest winds will occur from 8 p.m. Saturday night through 5 a.m. on Sunday morning, the Weather Service said. Travel could be difficult, including on I-90, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines, with scattered power outages possible, the Weather Service said.

The high temperatures in Orleans County in the coming days include 40 today, followed by 52 on Saturday, 46 on Sunday, 41 on Monday and 43 on Tuesday.
