High wind warning in effect today with gusts up to 60 mph
A high wind warning is in effect today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for Orleans, Niagara, Genesee and northern Erie counties.
There will be southwest winds from 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph expected, the National Weather Service in Buffalo said.
“Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines,” the Weather Service said. “Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.”
Today is forecast to be partly sunny with a high near 65. Thursday’s high will be near 43 followed by a high near 28 on Friday.
