High wind warning Friday when temperature takes 40-degree swing

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning on Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Orleans, Niagara, Monroe, Erie, Genesee and Chautauqua counties.

There will be southwest winds from 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts up to 60 mph possible.

“Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines,” the Weather Service said. “Scattered power outages are possible. Strong wind gusts may damage tents and temporary outdoor structures. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.”

Today is forecast for a high of 60 degrees. On Friday, the high will be 67 but the temperature will then plummet to a low of 24 on Friday night.

Saturday the high will be 32 followed by a high near 36 on Sunday.
