High school practice fields get busy

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – While football got a head start by opening preseason practice on Saturday the rest of the high school fall sports teams got going today including boys and girls soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf and boys and girls cross-country. Shown here in action on the soccer practice fields are Albion’s Olivia Krenning and Roy-Hart’s Peter Martillotta. The Albion girls will get the season off to a quick start by hosting their tournament starting on August 31 with Albion vs. Alexander and Kendall vs. Newfane. The defending Niagara-Orleans League champion Roy-Hart boys will open with a non league game at Hamburg on September 2.

Several Medina field hockey players here work on a ball control drill. Medina will open Niagara-Orleans League competition at home against Wilson on August 31.

Members of the Roy-Hart girls soccer squad begin tuning up to defend their N-O League title. The Lady Rams will host Akron in the N-O opener on September 7.

Going solo after being a merged team with Lyndonville for the last 10 years, Medina boys soccer players here work on a drill at Vets Park this morning. The Mustangs will open the season with a non league game at Eden on September 2.
