Hickory Ridge holds season opening tourney

The Hickory Ridge Golf Association held its first tournament of the season last week.

Winners of the tournament were Rich Wheeler, Ed Berlew, Paula Knaak and Werner Stumpf.  Their foursome scored five birdies enroute to a 68 besting the foursome of Jeff and Bonnie Dobson and John and Diane Colsanti who came in second with a 71.

Golfers used GHIN handicaps or handicaps from last year to be matched equally in a foursome.

It has been a slow start to the golf league season as weather dictated a schedule adjustment. The leagues finally got play in last week.

The Ladies Night Out Tuesday league had a familiar name for low gross as Deb Wood led the league with a 41. Competition came from Kathy Babbit and Diane Henneckey who both shot a 43. Henneckey had low net with a 34 followed closely by Babbit with a 35. Henneckey carded the only birdie on the day. There will be no standings posted until handicaps are determined.

The Thursday Night Mens Travel League reported a low gross of 38 by Jake Cotter. Cotter also shared low net with Gary Marciszewski both of whom posted a 29. Randy Van Houten recorded the only birdie on the night. As is most leagues, no standings until handicaps are determined.
