Hickory Ridge holds Scramble Tourney

Contributed Photo – The team of Jim Sauberan, Dona Hazen, Dave Cotter and Bob ‘Socks’ Butler took top honors at the Hickory Ridge Scramble Tournament.

The Hickory Ridge Golf Association held a scramble tournament this past week with the team of Dave Cotter, Dona Hazen, Bob ‘Socks’ Butler and Jim Sauberan leading the way with a 65.  Their round was highlighted with an eagle on number 10 as Hazen dropped a nice putt for the score.  Two other teams finished close behind with a 66.

The much needed rains came and wiped out the Tuesday Ladies Night Out League.  They will be making up their night.

On Wednesday the Men’s League got their round in with Him Hendrickson posting low gross with a 37.  Mark Bessell had low net with a 28.  Raymont Daniel, Bob Wyant and Hendrickson posted birdies.  The team of Daniels and Hendrickson sill lead with 36.5 points.  Pfister/Bessell, Connolly/Powers, The Dennistons and Zambito/Toale make up the top five.

The men’s Thursday Morning Senior League held the first of their tournaments this past week.  Two teams tied for the win in the scramble format with a 68.  They were the team of Gary Wood, John Gerhardt, Jim Zambito and Owen Toale  and the team of Rich Wheeler, Jerry Seaman, Bob (Socks) Butler and Steve McIntyre.

The Mens’ Traveling League Thursday night golfers report in for the first time this season.  Barry/Froman and Soria/Spencer are tied for the league lead with 94 points.  Burgess/Eaton, Ashe/Gifadi and Cotter/Knaak round out the top five.  Barry Flansberg shot low gross with a 39 with Gene Ashe close behind with a 40.  Birdies were recorded by Scott Budde, Hal Lindley, Jim Peglow and Bud Peglow.
