Hickory Ridge holds Flag Tournament
The Hickory Ridge Golf Association recently held an interesting Flag Tournament. For scoring in the tournament you added your handicap to par and plant your flag there. If you have strokes left after 18 you continue on.
Dona Hazen was the ladies winner with a 70 and Mike Farrell won the men’s division with a 67.
The Tuesday Night Ladies Night Out league had Deb Wood with low gross of 41. Marian Gerhardy had low net of 37 followed closely by Karen Berlew who net 38. Wood and Kathy Vane posted the only birdies on the night.
In the standings, Wood and Martin continue to lead with 60 points. Ferguson and Brawn are in second with 52 points. McNeil and Babbitt hold down third with 49 points and Berlew and Hazen are in fourth with 44.5.
The only 18 hole league is the Pete Sullivan Sr. Golf League. Last week newcomer Rich Turner once again led the pack with a low gross of 73. Werner Stumpf and Joe Gehl tied with 63 low net. Gehl just missed shooting his age.
Closest to the pin on number 3 was John Foote with 11’ 6”. Closest second shot on number 7 was John True ar 3’ 5”. There was a gaggle of birdies with Turner leading with the way with four of them. True had two birdies, Gordy Watt had three and Gene Ashe, Jeff Dobson, Dan Peckham, Darrell Johnson and Dave Bieber each had one.
The Thursday Night Mens Traveling League was once again led by Randy Van Houten’s low gross of 41. Loyd Denniston posted a low net of 30. Birdies were recorded by Van Houten, Tom Richey, Kevin Lach, Gabe Nagy and Dave Cotter.
In the standings Flansberg and Stalker hole down first place with 178 points. Farrell-Lach are in second place close behind with a174 points. Molisani-Soria hold third with 168 points.
