A heat advisory is in effect today when the high temperature is forecast to reach 90 degrees with heat index values in the upper 90s. The heat advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. for Orleans County, and much of western, central and northern New York.

The hot and humid conditions will bring an increased risk of heat related illness and dehydration, the National Weather Service in Buffalo said.

The temperatures will drop after today with the highs on Thursday at 76 and Friday at 74.
