Press Release, Assemblyman Steve Hawley

BATAVIA – Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,C-Batavia) visited Jackson Primary School on Friday in Batavia for his annual Valentines for Veterans program.

Students created over 100 valentines for the New York State Veterans’ Home at Batavia. Hawley had an opportunity to join Jackson Primary School Principal Maureen Notaro and meet with a class that crafted handmade valentines for this year’s program. He discussed many issues with the students, including what makes a person a veteran and spoke about the importance of respecting our veterans.

“Connecting with young students on a personal level gave me the opportunity to listen to their ideas about veterans and what these valentines meant to them,” Hawley said. “Working with Jackson Primary School was a blessing, the possibilities for the futures of these young students is immeasurable. I am excited to continue connecting with veterans and local primary schools during next year’s Valentines for Veterans event.”
