Hawks win Holley Varsity Duals
Going 5-0 on the day, the host Hawks captured top honors at the annual Holley Varsity Duals today.
Holley defeated Caledonia-Mumford 73-8, Arkport 68-15, Marcus Whitman 48-30, Albion 66-23 and Alden 63-21.
Brandon Morrell, Nick Shenck, Martin Beadle and Zach Day all went 5-0 and Clarence Moyer 4-0 for Holley to earn All-Tournament honors as did Austin Vroman and Glenn Robb who combined for a 5-0 record at 285. Morrell earned MVP honors for the lighter weights.
The Hawks also had Brandon Gardner go 4-1, Erik Balys and Patrick Purtell 3-1 and Ross Pinson 3-2.
Albion, which placed fourth at 2-3, had Preston Flugel and Blake Aina earn All-Tournament team honors.
Lyndonville goes 6-3 at Letchworth Tourney
Lyndonville compiled a 6-3 record over two days to place fourth at the Letchworth Tournament.
The Tigers defeated Alexander 37-29, Wayland-Cohocton 57-16, Pioneer 49-28, Attica 51-33, Letchworth 57-12 and Midlakes 39-38 but lost to Warsaw 54-12, Keshequa 45-29 and Canisteo 41-38.
Tony Recco went 9-0 for the Tigers as Jeff Gress Jr. and Dustin Joy were both 8-1, Devin Joy 7-2, Garren Bayne, Dustin Hinkley and Tom Follman 6-3, Dawson Joy, Anthony Bentley-Soloman and Dustin Hinkley 5-4.
