Hawks win Holley soccer tourney opener

A pair of second half goals earned the host Hawks a 2-0 victory over Perry this evening in the opening round of the Holley boys soccer tournament.

James Tette scored what proved to be the game winning goal for Holley midway through the second half off an assist from Jesse Patterson.

Caleb Schultz later added an insurance goal with two minutes to go as Cameron Bates earned the assist.

Broek Ostrom registered the shutout in goal making four saves,

In the other semifinal Alden downed Albion 3-1.

Albion did pull to within 2-1 on a goal by Ulises Ledesma with five minutes to go in the second half but Alden answered right back with a goal seconds later to put a lock on the win.

Holley will now face Alden in the championship game at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Albion will take on Perry in the consolation contest at 4:30 p.m.

Lady Hawks tourney begins Wednesday

The Holley girls soccer tournament will get underway on Wednesday with Roy-Hart vs. Alden at 4:30 p.m. and Holley vs. CG Finney at 6:30 p.m. The consolation and championship games will be played on Friday.
