Hawks to host wrestling, basketball tourneys

Photo by Cheryl Wertman — Dylan Clemons and his Holley-Kendall teammates will host the Hawks’ annual Duals Wrestling Tournament on Thursday. Holley will also host a boys basketball tourney on Friday and Saturday.

Holley will take the spotlight for this holiday week’s local high school sports action as the Hawks will be hosting both wrestling and boys basketball tournaments.

The Holley-Kendall wrestling team will host the annual Hawks Duals Tournament on Thursday beginning at 10 a.m.

The tournament field will include Caledonia-Mumford, Dundee, Canandaigua, Gilead and Campbell-Savona/Bradford.

Holley will also host the Hawks annual boys basketball tournament on Friday and Saturday.

Friday’s opening round games will have Lyndonville vs. Rochester Academy Charter at 5:30 p.m. followed by Kendall vs. Holley at 7 p.m. The contest will be a rematch for undefeated (6-0) Lyndonville which downed RAC 82-69 in the season opener.

The consolation and championship games will be held at 5:30 and 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Roy-Hart boys and girls teams will also both be competing in holiday tournaments on Thursday and Friday.

In Thursday’s openers, the Rams will face Batavia at 8:30 p.m. in the Batavia Tournament while the Lady Rams will take on the host school in the Tonawanda Tournament at 7 p.m.

The Barker girls will be competing in the Pembroke Tournament on Thursday and Friday. The Lady Raiders will face Rochester Academy Charter in the opening round at 5 p.m. Thursday.
