Hawks, Tigers earn high seeds

Genesee Region League Division I champion Holley is seeded No. 2 for the upcoming Section V Class CC playoffs.

The Hawks, which bring a 14-4 record into the playoffs, will host No. 15 Bloomfield at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in a pre-quarterfinal round game. The victor will then face the winner of the No. 7 Canisteo vs. No. 10 South Seneca contest in the quarterfinals on Friday.

G-R League Division II champion Lyndonville is seeded No. 3 for the upcoming Section V Class DD baseball playoffs.

The Tigers, which bring a 13-5 record into the sectionals. will host the winner of Tuesday’s game between No. 7 Fillmore and No. 10 Hammondsport in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Friday.

In Class C, No. 17 Kendall will visit No. 16 York at 4:30 p.m. Monday in a preliminary round contest. The victor will face top seeded Red Jacket on Wednesday.

Lyndonville’s Morgan Hugerford and her Lady Tiger teammates are seeded No. 3 for the Section V Class D1 softball playoffs.

Also on Tuesday, Niagara-Orleans League champion Medina will close out the regular season by hosting Starpoint in a non league game at 4:30 p.m. at Vets Park. The Mustangs are 15-4 on the season.

In the Section V girls softball playoffs, Lyndonville is seeded No. 3 in Class D1. The The 13-4 Lady Tigers will host the winner of the No. 6 Avoca vs. No. 11 Jasper-Troupsburg game on Friday.

In Class C1 No. 12 Holley visits No. 5 Bloomfield on Tuesday while in Class C2 No. 10 Kendall faces No. 7 South Seneca at Rush-Henrietta on Tuesday.

The Section VI softball seeding meeting is scheduled for Monday evening while the Section VI baseball seeding meeting is slated for Wednesday.
