Hawks sting Hornets for first G-R victory
Scoring a touchdown in each quarter, Holley defeated Oakfield-Alabama/Elba 27-6 this evening at Oakfield earning the Hawks their first Genesee Region League victory of the season.
Colin Papaj had 222 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns and Zach Day 84 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns to lead the Holley offense as Ryan Andrews tacked on 3 extra point kicks.
Dalton Moyer had 15 tackles and Day and Glen Thrower 11 each to lead the Holley defensive effort which also included an interception by Jeremy Mallett which set up a Hawks touchdown.
Papaj scored on an 8 yard run in the first quarter and a long 95 yard run in the second quarter to give Holley a 14-6 lead at the half.
Day then scored on runs of 5 and 6 yards in the second half to lock up the Hawks victory.
Holley is now 1-2 in the league and 2-3 overall.
