Hawks rally to win in double overtime

Rallying from as much as a three goal deficit in the first half, Holley battled back to earn a 5-4 double overtime victory over host Pembroke this evening in a Genesee Region League boys soccer game.

Holley pulled out the victory when Derek McArthur scored late in the second overtime on a rebound after Tyler Hill’s initial shot rattled off the cross bar.

Pembroke had jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes.

However, the Hawks battled bcd to knot the contest 3-3 at halftime on goals by John Mount, Andrew Cary and Cory Puente.

Pembroke regained a 4-3 lead in the second half but again Holley came battling back to reknot the contest on a goal by Cary with three minutes to go in regulation time.

Holley, which is now 3-1 in the league and 4-2 overall, next visits Roy-Hart at 6:30 p.m. Friday in a non league contest.

In one other G-R contest, Byron-Bergen scored a goal in each half to defeat Kendall 2-0.

Kendall is now 1-1 in the league and 1-2 overall heading into Saturday’s non league game at Batavia.
