Hawks rally to win Class C1 sectional opener

Coming from behind, No. 7 seed Holley rallied past visiting No. 10 Sodus in the Section V Class C1 boys soccer opener this evening.

Holley tied the game at 1-1 at the half on a goal by Lorenzo Zaragoza.

The Hawks then claimed the win on second half goals by Cam Bates, off an assist from Chris Mosier, and by Mosier from Will Kruger.

Holley will next visit No. 2 Pavilion/York in the quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Wheatland-Chili 2, Kendall 1
Avenging a pair of one goal regular season losses, No. 9 Wheatland-Chili nipped host No. 8 Kendall 2-1 this evening in a Class C2 opening round contest.

James Fox scored the Kendall goal off an assist from Riley Robinson.

Girls Soccer Section VI Playoffs
Niagara-Orleans League teams went 1-3 in the rain soaked opening round of the Section VI girls soccer playoffs this afternoon.

In Class B1, No. 6 Tonawanda scored twice in the final three minutes to down visiting No. 6 Albion 3-1.

Cami London scored Albion’s goal off an assist from Sophia Albanese.

In Class B2, No. 8 Akron blanked No. 9 Eden 2-0, No. 4 Alden shutout No. 13 Medina 5-0 and No. 6 Springville nipped No. 11 Newfane 1-0.

Olivia Nowak and Sophia Janik scored second half goals for Akron both off assists from Katie Leeds.

Field Hockey
Medina 4, Buffalo Seminary 2

Medina closed out the regular season with a chilly 4-2 non league win over Buffalo Seminary this evening at Vets Park.

Iyla Lilleby scored 2 goals and Addison Taylor and Baileigh McAdoo each tallied 1 for the Mustangs which finish the regular season at 11-5.

Medina will open Section VI Class C playoff action on Monday.
