Hawks play in Class C Bowl semi Thursday

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Holley’s Zach Day (20) and Dalton Moyer (18) and their Hawk teammates will face Wayland-Cohocton Thursday in the semifinals of the Section V Class C Bowl playoffs.
Holley begins defense of its Section V Class C Connors & Ferris Bowl title by facing Wayland-Cohocton in the semifinals at 6 p.m. Thursday at Caledonia-Mumford.
The game had originally been scheduled to be played at Holley. The victor will face the winner of the Mynderse vs. Dansville semi in the finals.
The game will be a rematch of last year’s Class C semi which saw Holley defeat Wayland-Cohocton 21-12. The Hawks went on to defeat Mynderse 34-6 in the championship game.
Offensively the Hawks are led by quarterback Jeremy Mallett and running backs Colin Papaj and Zach Day who have both scored 4 touchdowns.
The Hawks bring a 3-4 regular season record into the playoffs while the Golden Eagles are 1-6.
Albion, Barker/Roy-Hart to host non league games
Two other non league games are also on the Thursday evening schedule as Albion hosts Lew-Port at 6:30 p.m. and Barker/Roy-Hart entertains Pioneer at 6 p.m. at Middleport.
Albion is looking to avenge a narrow 26-25 loss to Lew-Port in the season opener.
The Purple Eagles and Lancers both bring 2-5 records into the contest.
Barker/Roy-Hart is 2-5 and Pioneer 3-4. Pioneer bested Barker/RH in their only other meeting in 2014.
