Hawks opens sectionals with narrow win

A lone first half goal proved to be just enough to earn No. 6 seed Holley a 1-0 victory over visiting No. 11 North Rose-Wolcott this evening in the opening round of the Section V Class C1 boys soccer playoffs.

Kayden Servais scored the decisive goal for the Hawks off an assist from Matt Wilson.

Improving to 10-5 -2, Holley next faces the winner of the No. 14 Pavilion/York vs. No. 3 Sodus game in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Roy-Hart bows, Newfane wins
In a Section VI Class B2 opening round game No. 9 Eden nipped host No. 8 Roy-Hart 1-0 in sudden death overtime on a goal by Alli Jacobs.

In a Class B1 opener, No. 9 Newfane downed host No. 8 Tonawanda 4-1 as Rachel Chunco had 3 goals and Lila Maurer 1.  Taylor Heschke and Sarah Milczarski both had a pair of assists.

The Lady Panthers next visit top seeded East Aurora on Friday.

In Class C, No. 3 Holland blanked visiting No. 14 Barker 4-0.
