Hawks nipped by Irish; Tigers win non leaguer

Notre Dame snapped a 4-4 tie with a sixth inning run to edge past host Holley 5-4 this afternoon in a Genesee Region League baseball game.

Earlier, Holley scored twice without the benefit of a hit in the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Hawks then retied the game at 4-4 with a run in the fourth on a passed ball.

A double by Ryan Andrews plated Holley’s first run of the day,

Dylan Hillabush went the distance on the mound for the Hawks scattering 6 hits and striking out 14.

Lyndonville 12, Northstar 3
Cullen Heveron pitched a complete game allowing just 4 hits and striking out 7 to lead Lyndonville past Northstar 12-3 in a non league contest.

Cory Hydock, Eric Neace, Dawson Joy, Zach Johnson and Cody Bentley each had a pair of hits to lead the Tigers balanced attack.  Neace’s hits included a two-run homer.

Lyndonville took the lead for good by scoring 4 quick runs in the opening frame on two-run singles by Mike Wells and Johnson.

Defensively, the Tigers turned two double plays, the first from Heveron to Neace in the second inning and the second from Jacob Hoffee at shortstop to Wells at third in the fifth.

Lyndonville, which is now 8-1, next hosts Alexander Friday in a G-R contest.
