Hawks make it 3 victories in a row

Regaining the .500 mark at 3-3, Holley notched a third straight victory by downing Oakfield-Alabama/Elba 28-19 this afternoon at Elba in a Livingston County League football game.

Holley jumped out to a 12-7 half-time advantage on touchdown runs by Camron Labarge and Jacob Affronti.  The Hawks then locked up the victory on two quick scoring runs by Labarge in the first three minutes of the final quarter.

However, it was Oakfield-Alabama/Elba that jumped out to the early 7-0 lead on a 26 yard touchdown run by Gage Dieterle and an extra point kick by Isacc Meija with 6:43 to go in the opening quarter.

Holley though got right back in the game by driving 65 yards in 14 plays to get on the scoreboard as Labarge scored on a 5-yard run on the first snap of the second quarter cutting the deficit to 7-6.

Pass completions by quarterback Jeremy Mallett of 13 yards to Michael Passarell and 12 yards to Labarge along with an 11 yard run by Mallett highlighted the drive.

The Hawks then moved on top to stay stay 12-7 when Affronti scored on a 33 yard run with 3:26 to go in the half.

The Holley defense then stopped a late OAE threat when Labarge intercepted a pass near the goal line in the final seconds.

Holley increased its advantage to 20-7 in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter on a 4 yard touchdown run by Labarge and a two-point conversion carry by Mallett. Runs of 12 yards by Nicholas Schutz and 15 by Labarge keyed that 39 yard drive flowing a short OAE punt.

OAE got that one back seconds later when Ty Mott broke loose for a 77 yard touchdown run to cut the deficit to 20-13.

Holley though answered right back with a 45 yard TD run by Labarge just four plays after the ensuing kickoff. Labarge added the two point conversion run to up the Hawks advantage to 28-13.

OAE, which slips to 1-5,  scored in the final 1:19 on a 1-yard touchdown run by Colton Dillon.

Newfane 27, Roy-Hart/Barker 18

Newfane trimmed Roy-Hart/Barker 27-18 this afternoon in a B-3 Division game at Barker extending the Panthers win streak to five.

Quarterback Brandon Gross ran for two touchdowns and passed to Shayne Harrington for another for Newfane which also got a 30 yard TD run by Julian Nixon.

Patrick Dwyer scored on a pair of touchdown runs in the first half to keep Roy-Hart/Barker within one at 13-12.

Gavin Samanka scored Roy-Hart/Barker’s lone second half touchdown. He also had a fumble recovery.

Newfane is now 5-1 and Roy-Hart/Barker 1-5.
