Hawks have G-R All-Star soccer quartet

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Holley’s Madison Papaj and Andrew Cary have earned Genesee Region League All-Star honors.

The Holley boys soccer squad has placed the senior trio of forward Andrew Cary, midfielder Derek McArthur and defender Chris Balys on the Genesee Region League All-Star team.

The Lady Hawks are represented on the G-R All-Star team by junior goalie Madison Papaj, a repeat honoree.

Cary, who is a three time G-R All-Star honoree, led Holley in scoring with 19 goals and 5 assists.

Balys, who is also a three time G-R All-Star, anchored the Hawks defense and had 2 goals and 1 assist.

McArthur netted 12 goals and had a team leading 14 assists.

Papaj made 130 saves and had a goals against average of 2.12.

Holley also had two players receive honorable mention, junior goalie Patrick Bower, who made 88 saves and and a 1.05 goals against average, and senior midfielder Ryley O’Mara who had 3 goals and 4 assists.
