Hawks capture Holley Varsity Duals title

Going 5-0 on the day, the host Hawks took top honors at the annual Holley Varsity Duals wrestling tournament today.

Holley defeated Cal-Mum 58-21, Albion 52-20, Depew/Cleveland Hill 60-21, Marcus Whitman 55-26 and Red Creek 72-12.

In the local rivalry match against Albion, Nick Shenck, Chris Yockel, Pat Purtell, Clarence Moyer, Zach Day, Cameron Thorn, Austen Vroman and Nate Schoonmaker all registered pins for Holley.

Shenck, Yockel, Purtell, Moyer, Day, Vroman and Braxton Leary-Hart were all named to the All-Tournament team.

Yockel, Purtell, Moyer, Day, Leary-Hart and Vroman all went 5-0 on the day while Shenck, Thorn, Erik Balys and Schoonmaker were all 4-1 and Ross Pinson 3-1.

Preston Flugel, Jordan Wolcott and Blake Aina all represented Albion on the All-Tournament team.

Wolcott and Blake Aina were both 5-0 while Flugel and Tim Drake were 4-1 and Cade Aina 3-2.

Cade Aina had a pin, Flugel a major decision win and Wolcott, Blake Aina and Drake decision wins for Albion against Holley.

Albion went 2-3 on the day. In the other matches the Purple Eagles defeated Red Creek 60-24 and Cal-Mum 42-37 but lost to Depew/Cleve Hill 42-30 and Marcus Whitman 46-36.
