Grillos inducted into Holley Wall of Fame

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – The father-son wrestling duo of John and Andrew Grillo were inducted into the Holley High Wall of Fame this evening prior to the start gf the Holley-Kendall vs. Byron-Bergen match. They are shown here at the conclusion of the ceremony with their plaques. John coached the Holley wrestling team for over 30 years until his retirement at the end of last season. He guided the Hawks to 20 Genesee Region League and 12 Section V titles. In all he coached for 44 years earning a state record 786 wins. Andrew became Holley’s first state wrestling champion in 2004. Now a teacher at Holley, he went 42-0 that season and finished with a career record of 186-11. Byron-Bergen edged Holley-Kendall 40-37 in the match. Dawson Custer and Frank Golisano both had pins for the Hawks as Tristyn Moyer had a major decision win and Jayden Pieniaszak a decision win. (Click here to see a video of Wall of Fame induction.)
