Green repeats as All-Conference golf honoree
Medina High graduate and University of South Florida sophomore Melanie Green has earned American Athletic All Conference golf honors for the second year in a row.
Green placed in the top 10 in seven of 10 outings this season which was highlighted by her first collegiate tournament victory at the Trinity Forest Invitational.
She set USF single season school records with 19 rounds of par or better and 102 birdies.
In the season opening USA Intercollegiate Tournament she also set school records with a score of 205 and a round of 7 under par 65.
“Melanie is deserving of this honor because she has worked on improving every aspect of her game,” head coach Erika Brennan said in a school press release. “Mentally, she is just so tough between the ropes. She continues to elevate and is always looking for new things to study and new ways to get better. That tenacity is rare and she is a remarkable student-athlete.”
Green will next compete in the NCAA regional tournament at Tallahassee, Florida on May 9-11. She is the number two seed for the regional.
