Green places third at season opening tourney

Medina High graduate and University of South Florida sophomore Melanie Green placed third at the season opening USA Intercollegiate Golf Tournament which concluded today at Mobile, Alabama.
Green posted a three day total score of 205 to lead South Florida to a second place finish in the final team standings.
Green opened the tourney on Saturday with a personal best 7 under par round of 65 which led the tourney a that point.
She followed up with a 72 on Sunday and rebounded with a 68 today to finish 11 under par for the tourney and earn third place honors. She finished four shots back of the tourney champion Zulaikah Nasser from Sam Houston State who posted a three day total of 201.
Last year as a freshmen, Green earned first team All Conference honors for the American Athletic Conference..
During her scholastic days at Medina, she was a three-time Section VI and a two-time state champion.
