Green opens with 71 at U.S. Amateur

Medina’s Melanie Green is tied for 12th after Monday’s opening round of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Golf Championship being played at Chambers Bay, University Place, Washington.
Three birdies on the back nine helped Green post a two under par round of 71.
Green, who will be a junior at the University of South Florida this fall, is now four shots back of the leader.
The event continues a busy summer for Green who earlier competed in the U.S. Women’s Open Championship.
