Combining a fast start with a strong finish, Medina’s Melanie Green has moved into a tie for sixth place today after her second round at the Epson Pro Golf Tour’s Greater Toledo Classic at Toledo, Ohio.
Beginning play today on the back nine, Green registered birdies on three of the first four holes on 10,11 and 13 to quickly go to 5 under for the tourney and move into third place.
Set back a bit by a bogey on hole No. 2, she got that one back with a timely birdie on No. 8 to finish the day with a 3 under par round of 68.
Combined with Friday’s opening round of 2 under 69, that gives her a 137 total good for a share of sixth place 5 shots back of the leader who is at -10 with some of the field still on the course.
A note, stormy weather caused play to be suspended shortly after Green completed her round.
Green has advanced to Sunday’s title deciding final round. Green, and the other Epson players who make the cut, will be paired with players from the LPGA’s Legends Tour which are having their own tournament there this weekend. Sunday’s round will then see both Epson and Legends champions crowned for the tournament.
