Green moves into match play round of 16 at the North & South Women’s Amateur Tourney

Medina’s Melanie Green has advanced to the match play round of 16 at the North and South Women’s Amateur Tournament being held at Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Seeded No. 15, Green defeated No. 18 Jackie Lucena 1 up today in the match play round of 32.
Green will now face No. 31 Caroline Craig in the round of 16 Friday morning. The winner advances to the quarterfinal round of match play on Friday afternoon. Craig upset No. 2 Emma Schimph 5 and 4.
The semifinals and finals are scheduled for Saturday.
The top 32 finishers after two rounds of the tourney opening stroke play competition qualified for the match play competition which will determine the tourney champion. A field of 120 competed in the two rounds of stroke play competition.
Green posted rounds of 71 and 72 in stroke play for a 143 total to advance to the match play portion of the tourney.
