Green misses cut at U.S. Women’s Open
A rough start to today’s second round proved costly as Medina’s Melanie Green failed to make the cut at the 77th U.S. Women’s Open Golf Tournament being played at the Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, North Carolina.
Green opened the round with bogeys on the first six holes but rebounded by putting together a strong back nine paring seven of the final nine holes.
She finished the day with a 7 over par 78 and had a two day score of 12 over par 154.
The projected cut line for the final two rounds, which will be played on Saturday and Sunday, is 3 over par.
The difficulty of the Pine Needles course was evident as former champion Michelle Wie West was 5 over for the day and finished with a two day total of 147 and former three-time champion Anika Sorenstram was 9 over on the day after 12 holes.
