Getting rolling after a bit of a slow start, Medina’s Melanie Green fired a strong 1 under par round of 71 during today’s second round of the Augusta Women’s National Amateur Golf Tournament at the Champions Retreat Golf Club near Augusta, Georgia.

It was a huge rebound for Green, who had a 5 over par round of 77 on Wednesday’s opening round which included three bogeys and a double bogey.

Like the opening round, Green got off to a slow start today bogeying two of the first three holes.

However, she bounced back in solid fashion making just one more bogey over the final 15 holes.

She offset those bogies by registering four birdies on the 6th, 11th, 15th and 17th holes to finish 1 under.

Green was just one of five players to finish the day with a sub par round.

Unfortunately, her two day 4 over par total of 148 just missed the cut to advance to Saturday’s championship round at Augusta National by 1 shot.

She will now play a practice round at Augusta National on Friday along with the rest of the tournament’s 72 player field.
