Green has 69 to open LPGA Arkansas tourney

Resuming LPGA Tour competition after a three week layoff, Medina’s Melanie Green got off to a solid start firing a 2 under par 69 today on the first round of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.
Green had 5 birdies, 1 bogey and 1 double bogey on the day.
Starting on the back 9 she went out in 2 under as birdies on 13, 14 and 18 offset a bogey on 12.
On the front nine a double bogey on 4 dropped her back to even but she rebounded quickly with birdies on 5 and 6 to finish the day at 2 under.
When she finished her round Green was 5 shots back of the leader a 7 under.
The tournament will continue with rounds on Saturday and Sunday.
