Green earns first collegiate golf tourney title
Medina High graduate and University of South Florida sophomore Melanie Green earned her first collegiate golf tournament victory today,
Green earned co-championship honors at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas, Texas which was hosted by SMU.
Green shared top honors with a 54 hole total of 216 on rounds of 74, 72 and 70. She shared the title with Lovisa Gunnar of Tulsa and the two were the only ones to shoot par for the tourney.
Green helped USF tie for fourth place in the 16 team field.
The tourney was the second of the season for the Bulls and Green has led the team in both. She did the same in three of the team’s four tourneys last fall when she compiled a 70.45 average earning first team All American Athletic Conference honors.
Green, who captured three Section VI and two state championships during her scholastic days at Medina, is majoring in Health Science.
