Rebounding from a rough start, Medina’s Melanie Green posted a 5 over par round of 77 today in the opening round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Golf championship being played at the Champions Retreat Golf Club near Augusta, Georgia.

Starting on the 10th hole, Green quickly ran into trouble as she had a double bogie on the 11th hole. She then had bogies on the 13th, 15th and 17 holes to fall to 5 over par after just 8 holes.

However, Green bounced back strongly by paring the final 10 holes to finish with a 77 which is 11 shots back of the tournament leader.

The second round will be played on Thursday at Champions Retreat. The top 30 finishers, including ties, will advance to Saturday’s championship round which will be played at Augusta National, the site of The Masters.

In addition, all 72 players in the field will play a practice round at Augusta National on Saturday.
