Green bows in North & South quarterfinals

It was a very busy day of 36 holes of golf competition for Medina’s Melanie Green who reached the quarterfinal round of match play at the North and South Women’s Amateur Tournament being played at Pinehurst, North Carolina.
This morning Green, who was seeded 15th, scored a 1 up victory in the match play round of 16 over No. 31 Caroline Craig.
Then this afternoon she dropped a narrow 2 and 1 decision in the quarterfinal round to Megan Schofill who was the 7th seed.
Green advanced to the match play field of 32 by scoring rounds of 71 an 72 in the tourney opening stroke play competition. She then defeated No. 18 Jackie Lucena 1 up in the match play round of 32 on Thursday to advance to today’s competition.
The tourney, which had a total field of 120, will conclude on Saturday with the semifinal and final match play matches.
