Gowanda stickmen down Medina

Moving on top to stay in the second quarter, Gowanda went on to defeat visiting Medina 12-8 this afternoon in a muddy Class D Division lacrosse game.

Trailing 3-1, Gowanda used a 5-1 second period scoring edge to rally into a 5-4 half-time advantage.  The lead increased to 9-6 after three quarters.

Mason Lewis scored 4 goals for Medina as Zach Blount, Brendan Luthart, Christian Silversmith and DaRon Bellan each netted 1.

Two goals by Lewis and one by Blount gave the Mustangs the short lived 3-1 first period lead.

Now at 2-2 in the division and 3-3 overall, Medina next visits Salamanca on Thursday.

Golf
Kendall went 1-2 in a Genesee Region League quad golf meet at Batavia.

Kendall posted a score of 320 while Notre Dame was 245, Elba 255 and Wheatland-Chil 354.

Callahan Spear was Kendall’s low scorer with a 55.
