Pushing across two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning, Gowanda nipped visiting Roy-Hart 8-7 in a non league baseball marathon this afternoon.

Roy-Hart had taken the lead for the last time at 7-6 by scoring once in the top of the 10th on a sacrifice by Ethan Kuzma after a double by Brayden Hy, an intentional walk to Thomas Russo and a single by Dawson Draper had loaded the bases.

However, Gowanda answered back with the decisive two runs in the home half of the frame on a ground out and an RBI double by Cole Herman.

Earlier in the game, Roy-Hart battled back from deficits of 2-0, 4-2 and 5-3.

The Rams tied the game at 2-2 in the third inning on RBI singles by Russo and Draper.

An RBI sacrifice by Kuzma in the fifth inning and an RBI single by Russo in the sixth kept Roy-Hart within one at 5-4.

The Rams finally took the lead for the first time at 6-5 in the top of the seventh on a run producing sacrifice by Sean Mettler and an RBI double by Jake Gould. A double by Kuzma and a single by Rem Albee set up the threat.

Gowanda though retied the contest at 6-6 with a run in the bottom of the seventh on two walks and a sacrifice.

Neither team could score in either the eighth or ninth innings setting the stage for dramatic finish in the 10th.

Russo, Draper and Albee each finished with 3 hits and Gould 2.

Now at 8-2 overall, Roy-Hart next hosts Akron in a key Niagara-Orleans League game at 4:45 p.m. Monday. The Rams are currently 4-1 and the Tigers 3-0 in N-O competition.
