Governor gives OK for drive-through, drive-in graduation ceremonies
Gov. Andrew Cuomo today said the state would allow drive-through or drive-in graduation ceremonies but won’t support indoor ceremonies or outdoor programs in stadiums.
Cuomo said a mass gathering outside would be too risky to public health. He didn’t want the event to become a “super spreader” with many people becoming infected with Covid-19.
“The issue is a public health issue and you don’t want people sick and dead,” he said. “That’s the issue. It’s about death. It’s about balancing the risk versus the reward.”
Cuomo said one of his daughters is graduating from college this year and won’t be able to have a traditional ceremony.
