Golf courses are open again – with restrictions

First they were open. Then they were closed. Now a clarification of Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order has golf courses around the state open again but with plenty of restrictions.

The order states that public and private courses can open but golfers will be required to walk the course and carry their own bags as golf carts are not allowed and social distancing rules must be maintained.

The New York State Golf Course Association reports that the order also states that there will be no access to the clubhouse, pro shop,  bag room or locker room; that the course cannot host “gatherings of any kind” and the only employees allowed to be on the course will be groundskeepers needed to maintain the course and security to enforce social distancing.

The clarification of the Executive Order locally effects the Shelridge, Hickory Ridge, Brown Road Golf Club and White Birch courses.
