Golden, Makowski earn All-Star honors

Albion High graduate and Keuka College senior Paige Golden has been named to the first team of the NEAC All-Conference volleyball squad for the third straight year.

Golden has set new Keuka career records for spiking kills (1,075) and digs (1,457). She had 19 matches with double digit kills this season and 21 with double digit digs. She also had 29 blocks and 36 service aces on the season.

Kendall High graduate and Genesee Community College freshman Ashley Makowski has been named to the All Region III soccer team.

Makowski, a midfielder, scored 12 goals on the season, four of which were game winners, and also had 12 assists in helping to lead GCC to a 13-4-1 record.

The GCC women’s soccer team roster also includes Holley’s Rachel Oliver while the men’s team roster included Lyndonville’s Sabir Aajan and Kendall’s Kyle Shaw.

The Keuka College women’s squad includes Kendall’s Abbey David and the men’s squad Kendall’s Preston Vick.

The Niagara County Community College women’s basketball team has a real Niagara-Orleans League look as the roster includes Tanisha Moyer from Albion, Alba Perez from Medina, Jesse DeWaters and Olivia Kelkenberg from Roy-Hart and Ashton Fiegel from Akron.

The NCCC wrestling squad includes Eric Velez from Medina and Kacee Sauer from Holley while the baseball squad includes Albion’s Travis Downs and Roy-Hart’s Ryan Metz, the women’s soccer squad the Roy-Hart duo of Christina Maynard and Stephanie Riegle and the men’s soccer squad Jon Poole and Deni Beterbeyev from Albion.
