POINT BREEZE – Gilligan’s Galley, a Point Breeze restaurant that opened nearly four years ago, will be closing on Aug. 29.

The establishment is owned by Danielle and Gatlen Ernst. The business announced the closing today on its Facebook page.

“It wasn’t an easy decision by any means, but one we feel is the right one for us,” the post states. “While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to our customers who have become like family, our hearts our full of gratitude for every person who has walked through our doors, every family who stopped in for a meal, and every person who supported us along the way.”

The Ernst family also owns and operates Ernst’s Lake Breeze Marina.

They thanked their “incredible staff” at making Gilligan’s Galley a very special place. The restaurant has a tiki theme with thatching and bamboo in the ceiling.

“While this chapter is coming to an end, we don’t necessarily see it as goodbye,” states the post from Gilligan’s. “We hope that someday, when the time is right, we’ll have the opportunity to bring something new to our community. Until then, we’ll cherish the memories we’ve made together.”
