GCC’s national tourney qualifying soccer squad has two former N-O players

Two former Niagara-Orleans League players – Albion’s Paige Derisley and Barker’s Nya Johnson – are members of the Genesee Community College women’s soccer team which has qualified for the National Junior College Athletic Association national championship tournament.

Derisley is a sophomore defender and Johnson a freshman midfielder.

GCC, which qualified by defeating North Country Community College 4-1 in the Region III finals, will also be the host school for the national tournament which will run November 11-14.

Two other Albion High graduates – Rylee Pearles and Arianna McGurn – are members of the GCC volleyball squad which is coached by former Medina High Coach Tim Lincoln.

Pearles has 31 spiking kills and 6 service aces and McGurn 6 kills and 1 ace.
