Medina Campus hosts informational meeting on April 24

Press Release, GCC

MEDINA – Genesee Community College invites homeschooled students and their parents to the Medina Campus Center on April 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. to learn about opportunities for students who are homeschooled.

Key college staff members who work with this student population will be available to educate family members and answer questions, and a light supper will also be served.

Homeschooled students have extensive opportunities to advance their education through GCC. Classes are offered in many subject areas and students under age 18 may take approved ACE (Accelerated College Enrollment) courses at a reduced tuition rate. ACE Program Specialist Dan Snyder, who works with many homeschooled students currently enrolled at GCC, will be at the session to provide information.

The evening will include information about how GCC coursework helps homeschooled students earn the New York State High School Equivalency Diploma. Scholarship and financial aid information will also be available. All interested participants are asked to RSVP their attendance no later than April 17.

“Last year’s event was so successful that the Medina Campus Center is excited to continue our efforts to provide area homeschool families with the opportunity to learn about everything GCC has to offer at our Orleans County Campus Centers,” said Associate Dean Jim Simon, who oversees GCC Campus Centers in Medina and Albion. “There are so many ways GCC can serve the interests and needs of homeschooled students and their families. From our small class sizes and excellent instructors to the variety of courses in many different subjects offered both on campus as well as online.”

Families will have the opportunity to learn about Genesee Promise Plus Summer Scholarship program, which provides ACE students with one or two classes tuition-free to any of GCC seven campus locations or online. More than 140 courses are being offered this summer. GCC has three Summer Sessions: The full summer session runs for ten weeks starting June 5 through August 12; Session I runs June 5 – July 8; and Session II runs July 10 – August 12.

The Medina Campus Center is located at 11470 Maple Ridge Rd., Medina, NY 14103. For more information contact the Medina Campus Center at (585) 798-1688.
