Garbage pickup pushed back a day this week

The solid waste pickup is being delayed a day by Modern Disposal Services after Monday’s big snowfall.

Monday’s collection has been pushed today and each day will be moved to the following day. Friday’s collection will be on Saturday.

As a reminder, if lanes or streets are still challenged with the excess snow accumulation which would not allow the safe operation of Modern’s trucks, then that area’s waste or recyclables may not be able to be picked up until the following week, said Jack Welch, Orleans County chief administrative officer.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this creates for our residents,” Welch said. “Unfortunately we did receive the 12 to 20-plus inches of snow that was predicted along with gusting winds.  Now as areas recover from this storm, Modern will as quickly and as safely as possible resume their collection operations beginning today.”
