G-R boys complete a sweep of the N-O

Pulling away with a big second quarter scoring surge, the Genesee Region League completed a sweep by defeating the Niagara-Orleans League 97-74 in the 22nd Exceptional Senior boys basketball game this evening at Medina.

Up by a narrow three point, 21-18, margin after the first quarter, the G-R romped in the second period outpointing the N-O 35-14 to race out to a 24 point, 56-32, half-time advantage. Cayden Pfalzer (Pembroke) scored 14 and Brayden Smith (Oakfield-Alabama) 7 to spearhead that decisive uprising.

The G-R maintained a commanding 22 point, 74-52, advantage at the end of the third quarter.

Pfalzer finished with a game high 21, Smith 17, Terrance Bayly-Henshaw (Wheatland-Chili) 13 and Gianni Ferrara (Byron-Bergen) 10 to lead the way for the G-R. Noah Currier (Oakfield-Alabama) added 8, David Brumsted (Byron-Bergen) 7, Connor Scott (Elba) 6, Kyle Porter (Oakfield-Alabama) and Jon Suro (Pembroke) 5 each, Mason Nicholson (Lyndonville) 3 and Trenton Muck (Lyndonville) 2.

Jamel Johnson Jr. (Roy-Hart) led the N-O with 17 as Aidan Voss (Barker) added 14, Matt Fox (Wilson) 10, Nate Beyer (Roy-Hart) 9, Aquil Gaffney (Albion) and Evan Myers (Newfane) 7 each, Brad Cantrell (Barker) and Drew Romesser (Akron) 3 and Mike Bubar (Wilson) and Logan Wolfe (Wilson) 2. Albion was also represented by Javon Jones and Medina by Aiden Pitts.
