Big season for Fry at Mercyhurst both on the softball diamond and in the classroom
This past season Roy-Hart graduate Maddie Fry played a key role in helping the Mercyhurst softball team to it best year ever.
Manning the key catcher’s position, Fry, who is a junior, helped Mercyhurst capture its first league championship, make its first NCAA Tournament appearance and earn a school record 32 wins.
Despite missing several games due to an injury, Fry led the Lakers with a .505 batting average and 56 hits. She scored 27 runs and stole 13 bases.
Her accomplishment’s earned Fry first team Pennsylvania Conference West Division honors for the second year in a row.
Fry, who is majoring in Early Childhood and Special Education, also earned several conference, regional and national postseason academic honors for her success in the classroom where she has compiled a 4.0 grade point average.
She received the PSAC Champion Scholar award for having the best grade point average in the conference tournament. Named to the Division 2 All Region second team she has also been named to the All American Academic third team.
