Fry begins 3rd season on the Toledo diamond
Medina High graduate Brian Fry is beginning his third season as the starting second baseman for the University of Toledo baseball team.
A junior, who has now started over 100 games for Toledo, Fry had an RBI double to help the Rockets win their season opener 5-4 in 10 inning over Mercer.
His first home run of the season was also a key one as it snapped a 1-1 tie and earned Toledo a 2-1 win over Winthrop.
Majoring in University Studies, Fry earned Mid America Conference All Defense Team honors last year as he had a fielding average of .995.
At the plate, Fry had 17 extra base hits, including 14 doubles which shared the team lead, and drove in 21 runs his freshman season.
He then had 8 doubles, 3 home runs, 20 RBI and 30 runs scored during his sophomore campaign.
