Fredonia tips Medina in B1 semis
Defending state champion and No. 2 seed Fredonia edged past No. 6 Medina 3-2 this afternoon in the Section VI Class B1 semifinals at Fredonia.
Medina tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth inning on a two run single by Justin Morgan. An error and a walk set up that threat.
Fredonia though answered right back with what proved to be the deciding run in the top of the sixth. A single and a walk set up the threat and the run came home when Medina just missed getting the runner out at second on a steal attempt.
Adam Hoot went the distance on the mound for Medina allowing only four hits and striking out nine.
“Adam did a great job,” said Medina Coach Eric Hellwig. “It was a great pitchers dual as we had only two hits. I’m proud of our kids, we played the defending state champs even. They were two very even teams. It was anybody’s game.”
