Jumping out to an early lead, Fredonia went on to defeat Wilson 53-47 for the Section VI Class B girls basketball championship and a berth in the upcoming state playoffs this evening at Buffalo State College.

Hannah Cybart scored a game high 27 points to spark the attack for Fredonia which held leads of 17-10 after one period, 30-25 at the half and 45-31 at the three-quarter mark.

Wilson did rally to outscore Fredonia 16-8 in the final period but the comeback bid fell short.
